You may be wanting to see a doctor of your own choosing if you have been injured in an accident at work. However, it is very important that you see the doctor recommended by the workers’ comp insurance company. Based on what happens there, you may be able to see your own doctor thereafter.
If the doctor they direct you to concludes that you do not require additional treatment but you still believe you need more, then you can choose your own doctor if you first make the appropriate treatment request to the workers’ compensation insurance carrier and they respond that they do not want to provide you with more treatment. Making this request and receiving their response is very important.
If you fail to follow the above steps before seeing your own doctor, you may be responsible for paying outstanding medical bills for the additional treatment. Watch the video to learn more.
