Explaining an Order Approving Settlement for Your Injury on the Job in New Jersey

Following the ending of your treatment for an injury on the job, you are evaluated by permanency experts. An order proving settlement would then mean that your case is to be resolved for a percentage of disability. Specific percentages are assigned to the body part or body parts injured in your accident. This number is determined by the nature and extent of your medical treatment received and the permanency evaluation reports.

The award is based upon a combination of the nature and extent of your injuries, along with the functional loss you have sustained. Functional loss refers to your current physical limitations that resulted from your accident, including your ability or inability to return to your job or work in a light-duty capacity.
